Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar has adopted 2400 acres of Keesara Reserve Forest as part of the 'GiftASmileChallenge' campaign started as part of the birthday of TRS working president KT Rama Rao. Responding to the appeal made by TRS working president KTR on Twitter to 'GIFTASmile' for the needy and not to celebrate his birthday with pomp and show, Santosh Kumar through his Twitter account said that he is going to adopt Keesara Reserved Forest which is spread across 2,402 acres on the outskirts of the Hyderabad city.
Hetero Chairman Partha Saradhi Reddy planted saplings and laid the foundation stone in the urban forest. On the occasion, he appreciated Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar’s Green India Challenge initiative, which motivated Hetero Drugs to come forward for adoption. Reddy handed over a cheque of Rs five crore to the State government in the presence of Forest Minister Indrakaran Reddy, MP Santosh Kumar, and forest officials. Mumbapur urban forest block is located near Gundlapochampalli in Sangareddy district. The urban forestry is extended in 3 compartments wherein Mumbapur (1,777 acres) and Nallavelli (766 acres) are adopted by Hetero Pharma. As part of the adoption, there would be stabilization of 2,543 acres of urban forest by fencing almost 25 km periphery and development of a small eco-park by the money donated by Hetero.
Telugu superstar Prabhas has taken the responsibility to adopt and develop 1,650 acres of Kazipalli Reserve Forest. He has handed over Rs 2 crore to forest officials for the development of the reserve. "I've taken the initiative to adopt and develop 1,650 acres of Kazipalli Reserve Forest Block near Hyderabad. Having always been a nature lover, I believe this would create an additional lung space for the city. I thank Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar for his support. I would also like to thank the Govt of Telangana and the Forest Department for giving me this opportunity! #GreenIndiaChallenge," Prabhas posted on Instagram on Monday. The Forest Department is going to convert a small portion of the forest into an urban forest park while the rest of the area will be a conservation zone. The department will fence the entire 1,650 acres and immediately start developing the eco-park. There will be the construction of a park gate, a see-through wall, walking track, viewpoint, gazebo, and a medicinal plant center.
Well-known actor Nagarjuna kept his word as he declared recently. On the occasion of the birthday of CM Sri K Chandrasekhar Rao, with Green India Challenge inspiration, he announced that he is adopting 1080 acres of forestland. Nagarjuna came forward to set up an urban park at Chengicherla Forest area on the outskirts of Hyderabad in his father Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s name. At the foundation laying ceremony, along with MP Sri J Santosh Kumar, Nagarjuna participated along with his family members. Akkineni Nagarjuna, Amala, sons Naga Chaitanya and Nikhil and other family members attended. For the development of the forest region, they have donated Rs 2 Crore Cheque to the Haritha Nidhi as conceived by the CM.
